As I am using a girl on the front cover of my magazine, I thought it would be good to analyse a magazine cover which also has a girl on the front. Kerrang does not generally have girls on the front cover of its magazine, so I found an issue of Q that had Cheryl Cole on the front cover. The usual Q covers have a white background along with a bold figure on the cover, and writing down the side. However this cover is interesting as it is a close up of the face of Cheryl Cole and a darker background. She is looking straight out of the magazine towards you and the pale close up of the face contrasts with the dark background. The typefaces have been slightly altered to fit better with the picture, as the majority of the writing is red, matching the Q title, or white, to contrast with the background. No cover lines are over her face, and the main story cover line about Cheryl Cole is at the bottom of the cover in large, red block capitals. On the front cover, details of the ’10 best new acts’ advertised, another unique selling point for this magazine.
