Music Magazine Contents development

Here you can see the various stages of development when making my contents page. Many of the desgin features stemmed from the magazines I had studied, for instance the 'Features' section and the subscription offer at the bottom of the page. The initial starting point of the page was dividing it up in four sections. The top of the page would be used as a title and date, the right hand side of the page would contain the pictures, the left hand side would display the Features section, and the bottom of the page would show additional information. I began by adding the title to the page along with the sub-heading of Features. I began incorporating my house style with the red colours, but from what I had studied, most magazine contents pages had a white background. I then altered the contrast and exposure to my photos I would use then dropped them in on the right hand side of the page. I had two pictures of the same person overlapping each other on this page for emphasis of the importance. I altered the image in the background to look darker by changing the lightness.  The next stage was to continue writing the features section. I used a large title for each feature but in a different font to the main sub-title. Each feature was separated by lines of colour making the page easier to read. The features mostly appeared on the front cover of the magazine so I added a small description of the article which hopefully would make people want to continue reading. One idea I want to include was having a page number on the images I had put in the contents page. After looking at the front cover, you can see that the person shown is the same as the one that appears in the contents page, therefore simply putting a page number on the image, readers can immediately look for that article. The last stages of construction included adding more page numbers to the remaining articles and making a border around my picture.
