Music Magazine Cover Development

These are the first stages of production of my front cover. Before finalising my front cover I will get feedback from others and see what changes would be made. The first stage of construction was to drop in the image I wanted to use. I used the magic wand tool to cut my model out from her background and place her on a transparent background. I then added the black background to my cover and increased the saturation and contrast of my original image. This made the face stand out from the black more and the black coat she is wearing blends in more with the background. I left enough room for my title above the head of my model and created a banner across the top of page. This included the words 'leading UK indie music magazine' and the date of the issue. I then included the 'exclusive interview' to the page in order to create a unique selling point to the magazine. I made a sticker advertising a free poster, which also makes viewers interested in the magazine. The last stages were to include cover lines and a bar code. The reason why I thought putting the cover line for 'Best 10 acts of 2010' inside a box was a good idea was that this created emphasis on another important article people would be interested in reading. I did however create a gradient effect on this box to fade it into the background.
